Jussie Smollett Found Guilty of Disorderly Conduct in Trial After Alleged 2019 Attack

The verdict is in. Jussie Smollett was plant shamefaced in a felonious trial after he was indicted of faking an alleged attack against him in January 2019.

The jury blazoned on Thursday, December 9, that the Empire alum, 39, was condemned of five out of six felony counts of unruly conduct. The decision came after a weeklong trial in Chicago. He faces up to three times behind bars and a$ forfeiture.

Smollett contended not shamefaced to all six counts of unruly conduct for allegedly making false reports to police.

He vehemently denied orchestrating or making up the attack.

Sisters Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, whom the actor knew from the set of Empire, witnessed during the trial that Smollett — who’s Black and gay — ordered them to carry out a fake supremacist and homophobic attack against him to garner sympathetic media content.

When asked on the stage whether he bandied creating a “ humbug” with the sisters, Smollett responded, “ No.” He also claimed that he “ noway” gave them a check as payment for the supposed fiddle moreover.

The Potent Ducks star contended in January 2019 that he was the victim of a hate crime in Chicago. “ I’m working with authorities and have been 100 percent factual and harmonious on every position.

Despite my frustrations and deep concern with certain inaccuracies and paddings that have been spread, I still believe that justice will be served,” he said in a statement the following month.

“ As my family stated, these types of dastardly attacks are passing to my sisters, sisters andnon-gender conforming siblings daily. I’m not and shouldn’t be looked upon as an insulated incident.”

He added at the time “ Most importantly, during times of trauma, grief and pain, there’s still a responsibility to lead with love. It’s all I know. And that ca n’t be demurred out of me.”

Authorities soon shifted their focus to Smollett, believing that he offered the alleged attack. Us Weekly verified in February 2019 that he was charged with making a false police report.

The following month, he was criminated by a grand jury on 16 felony counts of unruly conduct, to which he contended not shamefaced.

In a controversial move, Cook County, Illinois, prosecutors dropped all the felonious charges against him in March 2019.


Still, the Marshall star was criminated again in February 2020 on six counts for making false reports to police.

His trial was latterly delayed for further than a time due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
